Riot Games, a well-known game studio responsible for League of Legends, is facing layoffs and the closure of Riot Forge. Unfortunately, this trend of downsizing is continuing into 2024. The scale of the layoffs is significant, with 530 employees, or 11% of the workforce, being let go. This raises questions about the reasons behind these layoffs. The production has not been as financially successful as anticipated, with revenues falling short of development costs. However, Riot Games is determined to continue with the project, albeit with a reduced team. The developers who continue to work on the game will focus on the development of the PvE mode, known as *The Path of Champions*, as players are currently spending the most time in this mode. The hope is that these changes will lead to a profitable model for *Legends of Runeterra*. The studio plans to share new materials from the game with players in the near future. It is worth mentioning that CD Projekt RED has extended a helping hand to the employees who have been laid off from Riot Games.
