Genshin Impact, a popular RPG game developed by MiHoYo, has once again become a victim of review bombing. In a short period of time, the game has lost a million followers. This time, it is mainly Chinese fans of the game who have expressed their strong disappointment (to say the least) after the developers announced modest rewards for the annual Lantern Rite event in the game. It all started with a live stream where the developers discussed the details of the upcoming 4.4 update. During the stream, they also announced that players can obtain a maximum of three Intertwined Fate, which can be used for specific wishes. This move has greatly upset at least a million Chinese users. Earlier, the game’s profile was followed by around 9.3 million users, but after the “uproar,” this number has dropped to about 8.2 million. The discontent of the angry players has also affected the game’s advertising partners. Fans have stopped following fast-food chains like Pizza Hut, KFC, and the Chinese company HeyTea on social media. It should be noted that the dissatisfaction of fans has also been influenced by a series of previous decisions made by MiHoYo, the responsible studio behind Genshin Impact. So far, there has been no response from MiHoYo regarding the mass loss of followers on Genshin Impact’s social media profiles. Genshin Impact is available to play for free on PC, mobile devices, as well as PS4 and PS5 consoles.
